=>How to Change Your Theme
=>How to Write Your First Blog Post

Are You Ready? Let’s get started.

Step 1. Setup

One of the worst mistake is to chose the wrong blogging platform. Thankfully you’re here, so you won’t be making that mistake.

For 80% of users, it  actually makes more sense to use WordPress.org also known as self-hosted WordPress. The major reason is  because, it is free and easy to use, you can install plugins, customize your site design, and most importantly make money from your site without any disturbing restrictions.

In other words, you need a domain name and web hosting.

A domain name is what people type to get to your website. It’s your website’s address on the internet. A typical example is Yahoo.com or Akwaonline.com

Practically, a Web hosting is where your website live or domiciled. This is your website’s house on the internet. Virtually every website needs web hosting.

Currently, a domain name typically costs between $10 to $14.99  per year, and web hosting goes for as low as $5.99 / month.

The above looks quite expensive if you're just starting, but it is very ok for me because of the money you will be making after creating your first blog.

Thankfully, Bluehost, an official WordPress recommended hosting provider, has agreed to offer our users a free domain name and over 60% off on web hosting.

Bluehost is one of the oldest web hosting companies, started in 1996 (that’s before Google). They are also the largest brand name when it comes to WordPress hosting because they host millions of websites including our own.

NOTE: Here at akwaonline, I strongly believe and operate  in transparency. If you sign up with Bluehost using my referral link, I will earn little commission at no extra cost to you (Guess what, you will save money and get a free domain as well). However, I only recommend products and quality services that I believe will add value to my esteem readers.

Kindly proceed  and purchase your domain + hosting.
Open up Bluehost in a new window and follow the process as outlined below;

First thing you need to do is click on the green Get Started Now button to get started.
Within the next screen, select the plan that you need (basic and plus are the most popular).There after, you will be asked to enter the domain name  for your website.
After your new domain,this dialogue box will be presented with the option below;

Last but not the least, you will need to add your account information in order to finalize the package deal info to complete the method. On this screen, you will see optional bonuses that you can purchase. It's totally up to you whether or not you buy these, but we generally don't recommend purchasing these. You can always add them afterwards, if you decide that you need them.

Note: When completed, you will get a message with details on how to login to your web hosting control panel (cPanel). This is when you manage everything from support, emails, among other things. But most significantly, this is where you install WordPress.

Step 2. Install WordPress

Inside the cPanel, you will see dozens of small icons for different services and features as seen above. This can be a little bit overwhelming, so ignore 90% of which because you will never need to work with them.
Scroll down to the site section and click on the WordPress icon.

You're going to be redirected to the Bluehost Marketplace Quick Install display for WordPress. Click on the Start button.

In the next screen that will display, you will be asked to select your domain name. Choose the domain from the dropdown and then click Next.

Next, you need to get into your Site Name, login, and a password for your site. You should also try to check all the check boxes and then click Install.

The QuickInstall will immediately install WordPress. The marketplace will prompt one to surf WordPress themes, while WordPress is being installed.

Do not need do that right now. I will show you how to get free WordPress themes in the next step.
When WordPress has finished installing, you will notice the success notice in the top header bar.
Bluehost WordPress Install Complete
Gently Click on the Installation Complete link, and it will take you to the screen with your WordPress login URL and password.

Now i can say congratulations, you have successfully created your WordPress site/blog.

Step 3. Time to Select your WordPress Theme
The ultimate and brilliant appearance of your WordPress blog is handled by themes. When you first visit your blog, it will look  typically like this:
You might not be happy with the above theme

Beautifying the look and feel of your website is the most exciting and rewarding part in the journey of creating your WordPress site.

There are thousands of pre-made WordPress themes that you can install on your site. Some of them are free, while others are paid.

You can change your theme by going to your WordPress dashboard and hitting on Appearance

==>Go ahead and click on the Add New button.
This will take you to the next screen, you will able to search from over 41000 free WordPress themes that are available in the official WordPress.org themes directory. You can comfortably sort them by popular, latest, featured, as well as other feature filters (i.e industry, layout, etc).
